THE CHARACTER VIRTUE

KEY VERSE : A man's gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men. (Proverbs 18 : 16). 


BIBLE READING : ESTHER 1 VS 10 - 12.


 "Character is said to be the stable and distinctive qualities built into an individual's life which determines his or her response regardless of the circumstances".

Your character is what defines you as a person and it can either make or mar you.


A man's gift will make room for him at the top, but character will either sustain him there or bring him down.


Let us consider the life of queen Vashti.
According to the midrash, queen vashti was the great grand daughter of King Nebuchadnezzar || of Babylon and the daughter of King Belshazzar, making her a Babylonian. 
By all noble standards, Vashti was qualified to be the queen of Persia. Queen vashti was also a very beautiful woman. But all these qualities could not sustain her position as queen.


Character is a virtue, it will help in preserving doors which the Lord has secured for you at the top.

Queen Vashti was full of pride and as a result, she lost her position to a young lady with no historical aristocratic background, who only had the favor of God upon her life and was of a good character.
To make it to the top in life and to remain on top, you will need more than just skills, talent, ability, strength, etc..... You will need to possess a good and stable character. 


God expects that we be stable and fixed on Him, just like a statue. 

A statue does not shake or react to situations, it remains fixed on a spot and immovable. 

If you are on the Lord's side, then you need to take a stand for Him and be stable in Him. 

A part of you cannot be longing for God and the other part is still longing for the world.

Be stable in the faith, be a person of integrity and keep on investing in your character in order to become a better person each day.


To be of good character is pleasing to God.

Doing the Right Thing?

 And he cometh unto the disciples, and findeth them asleep, and saith unto Peter, What, could ye not watch with me one hour? (Matthew 26:40).   Bible Reading : Matthew 26:36-45.   Jesus entrusted three of His disciples with a simple task, to keep watch while He prayed. Yet, they failed Him. Despite the simplicity of the task, they prioritized their own comfort over obedience to their master. Sadly, there are still believers today who exhibit the same attitude as those three disciples, treating the things of God with levity while prioritizing their own needs. Scripture reminds us, "I must work the works of Him that sent me, while it is day..." (John 9:4).  Partial obedience to God's commandments is tantamount to disobedience.   Perhaps sleep isn't your struggle like the disciples in Matthew 26:40, but there may be other hindrances keeping you from wholeheartedly obeying God. WHY PRAY AND WORRY?

  "Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?"  Matthew 6:27 Worry and prayer cannot coexist harmoniously. When we worry while we pray, it's an indicator of our lack of trust in the One whom we have prayed to. We are essentially saying that we doubt God's capacity to handle our concerns. “My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth." Psalm 121:2 The One who created the vast expanse of the universe, who tirelessly watches over it, is the same One who cares for you and your needs. He neither slumbers nor sleeps.   "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
